Regionals Spotlight

This March Enactus Okanagan College dominated the 2022 Enactus Regional Competition, qualifying for the national championship in May. The regional competition took place March 10th-12th, where teams of students from across Canada virtually showcased their projects and business ventures that are making an impact in communities across the globe.

The EnactusOC team placed first in the Scotiabank Climate Action Challenge – the fourth consecutive win in this category for Okanagan College. The team also took home first place in the TD Entrepreneurship Challenge. Our Unusually Good project was at the heart of these year’s victories, taking home first place in both of these categories. The project uses discarded fruit from local orchards to create 100% fresh, orchard pressed apple cider. All the proceeds made from juice sales support our projects apple chip processing, which are then donated to children and members of the community who are struggling with food insecurity.

EnactusOC was also crowned champions in the Entrepreneurship National Pitch competition, where students from across Canada pitch brand new project ideas. Additionally, the EnactusOC team was named runner-up in the Financial Education Challenge, presenting on the Ivy Collective project. New this year, Ivy Collective creates an inclusive and supportive environment for immigrant and refugee youth to build their skills and confidence. They provided a free workshop series to newcomer Canadians to teach essential career skills, and are now extending the reach of the program through virtual sessions being promoted in Vancouver and Toronto.

This year’s competition team was coached by Business professors Andrew Klingel, Kyleen Myrah, Danielle Robinson, Sheilagh Seaton and Mark Ziebarth.

EnactusOC’s performance at regionals netted the program $5,500 to be re-invested back into their projects. To learn more about this year’s champion projects visit our current projects page!
